Welcome to Catalogue #230, post ANZAC Day 2020. Even though most of us were confined to barracks because of this COVIS 19 bug, we celebrated the day in a most wonderful way. Thousands of people stood out on their doorsteps, driveway and balconies at 6am with candle in hand and welcomed the sun. It was a great way to remember the thousands who have given their lives in the service of this country and it may well be my celebration of choice in the following years. I think my days of prancing down the Terrace with a bunch of ratbag mates is long passed. Besides, who wants to get dressed up, festooned with bling?
I feel a lot of good will come from this pandemic. People are starting to think of their families, neighbours and friends again whereas pre pandemic we were all heads down and bum up, getting on with our own little lives in our own little bubble. This is probably the wake-up call we all deserved. I’ve heard from many long-term mates that I hadn’t heard from for yonks. And I’ve phoned, emailed, texted many more. Well done all, keep it up. Again this list contains many gems, many listed before and others new to the stage, I’m sure there will be plenty for all tastes. As usual, this list is dedicated to those in the firing line—soldiers, police, ambos, nurses, doctors, hospital staff et al. Thank you one and all.
