Two Ranks on the Road, 35 Years of Australian Special Forces Service by Michael J Malone, OAM

‘Two Ranks On The Road, 35 Years of Australian Special Forces Service’ tells the story of one man’s military journey: a man who was never afraid of a challenge, who fought for what he believed was right, and would always stand up for his mates. A chance encounter in basic training led to the opportunity to cross the country to take on the fearsome ‘Cadre’: the selection course for the famed Australian Special Air Service Regiment. There, the young knockabout from the bush was selected to join the finest military outfit in Australia, preparing to do their bit in Vietnam.

The book will be launched on at 5pm on Sunday 21 April at Boffins Bookshop William Street, Perth. If you would like to join us you can book your ticket here (limited capacity).

You can also pre-purchase here and your signed copy will be in the mail in the after the launch.

SIMMO – A biography of Ray Simpson, VC, DCM
One of Australia’s Greatest Soldiers
by Michael J Malone, OAM and Peter D Lutley, Perth 2015

After every conflict, there comes a time when historians gather to describe the heroic exploits stemming from that action. In the case of Victoria Cross winners, such histories are ordinarily detailed and numerous, but there are some exceptions – this is the first book of note to commemorate the heroism of one of Australia’s greatest soldiers.

This is probably the best biography of an Aussie soldier I have ever read. None of the others have really got into the basic personality of the man, warts and all, good and bad points, as you have with SIMMO. You’ve really presented a portrait of the men of that era, born in the 1920s, brought up without the benefits everyone enjoys today, no sense of entitlement, and worked with his own abilities to make a living. ….anyone interested in our military history should acquire a copy of this book. – LEX MACAULEY, former Soldier & Author

The Limited Edition Leather Bound Collectors Edition has now SOLD OUT – we had an unprecedented demand for it. A real tribute to the esteem in which Simmo is held.

A limited number of hard back copies with dust wrapper are still available.

The paperback edition is available either online or by email or call 0417 964 530.

Rare Books

Most of the books listed are rare ‘one-offs’, and are snapped up quickly – once gone into a private collection they are rarely seen again. The photos shown here are of the actual book, not a downloaded ‘cover’ – so you can see the condition.
